A. Horizontal Curves. Changes in horizontal alignment of the roads shall be made through the use of horizontal circular curves. The radii of such curves shall not be less than:

1. Local road, 175 feet;

2. Collector road, 235 feet; or

3. Arterial road, 425 feet.

B. Compound curves and broken-back curves should not be used. Reverse curves should have an intermediate tangent of 100 feet or more, unless the curve radii are 300 feet or more.

C. Gradients. Road grades should not exceed eight percent. Cul-de-sac areas and temporary turnarounds should not exceed four percent. The engineering and facilities department director may approve road grades to 15 percent if a plan and profile of the road is submitted by a registered engineer, and the engineer certifies that safety standards are met.

D. Cross Slopes. The minimum road cross slope shall not be less than two percent. [Ord. 90-15 §2, 1990].
